Donations to the Annual Campaign

Contributions to YMCA Camp MacLean

If you wish to donate to YMCA Camp MacLean, you have several options for your contribution. The hallmark Annual Campaign ("Kids to Camp") allows children to attend camp that would be otherwise unable. The Camp Endowment Fund provides a stable, flexible source of income to guarantee that Camp MacLean meets the needs of future generations. A deferred or Legacy Gift is one which you decide upon now to provide for your favorite camp program later. And lastly, Volunteering provides essential support to camp.

YMCA Camp MacLean is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which benefits from the donations of past and present camp families. A highly involved board of directors coordinates fundraising efforts throughout the year. Donations to Camp MacLean are used efficiently. Over the last four years, more than 90 cents of every dollar donated to camp was spent on the costs of our programs and services.

The staff and board of directors thank you for considering a gift to YMCA Camp MacLean through one of these programs. It is with your support that camp is able to serve many youth and community organizations every year. Please contact our office if you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation. To find out more about the different donation opportunities, see the links below for the details of each gifting program.

Annual Campaign

Our primary fundraising activity is the Annual Campaign. The goal of this effort is to provide scholarships for children who otherwise would not be able to attend summer camp. Summers at YMCA Camp MacLean are life-impacting experiences. Campers learn the value of living in a community and drawing upon each other's particular skills and abilities. They learn responsibility, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and they gain self-confidence by conquering new and unusual physical challenges.

During our annual phone-a-thon, volunteers make contacts to raise funds for these camper scholarships. Additionally, contacts are made by the board of directors to raise more donations for the same purpose. For example, a gift of $500 would send a child to camp for a week. No contribution is too small, and all are pooled together to help kids enjoy a life-changing summer camp experience. More than $50,000 is raised annually during the winter and spring for Annual Campaign scholarships.

Camp Endowment Fund

YMCA Camp MacLean has provided a great facility and experience to thousands since 1941. Gifts given through thoughtful planned donations strengthen camp's ability to carry out its mission. Giving to the YMCA Camp MacLean Endowment Fund provides a stable, flexible source of income to guarantee that camp meets the needs of future program participants.

A planned gift is a provision for Camp MacLean in your estate plans: your will, trusts, insurance, annuities, retirement plans, pooled funds, life estates, and/or the establishment of an endowment fund. (See the information on Legacy Gifts.) Planned giving may offer you tax savings and other financial benefits while providing income to Camp. Depending on your situation, a planned gift can increase your current income or the value of your estate for your heirs.

If you are interested in considering a donation to the YMCA Camp MacLean Endowment Fund, please contact our office.

Legacy Gifts

If you have ever wondered how to make a meaningful contribution to YMCA Camp MacLean that will have a lasting impact, a Legacy Gift is a terrific mechanism to consider. A deferred or Legacy Gift is one which you decide upon now to provide for your favorite non-profit program later. Through the benefits of planned giving, donors can leave a lasting legacy to camp. Planned gifts provide donors with optimal tax benefits and dependable long-term support for camp. Many options are available through planned giving: a bequest in your will; a donation of life insurance policies; percentage of your estate, including trusts and securities; and personal property other than money.

Your Legacy Gift can be unrestricted or it can be designated for a specific use or program. For example, a gift could be designated to provide the cost of construction of a new program building at camp. You could designate that your gift go into the YMCA Camp MacLean Endowment Fund, general capital funds, or Annual Campaign. We will be glad to provide more information about your options.

Your generosity is deeply appreciated and Legacy Gifts are one of the most significant demonstrations of commitment to Camp MacLean that an individual can make. If you would like to have direct impact on generations to come, please consider a Legacy Gift. For more details on how to arrange a gift through your will or estate plan, talk to your attorney or estate planner.

If you are interested in considering or have arranged a Legacy Gift donation to the YMCA Camp MacLean, please contact our office.

Volunteering

Volunteers are essential to YMCA Camp MacLean. When you are a volunteer at camp, you are part of a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Your time and talent can go a long way to help provide, improve, and maintain camp facilities.

Volunteer "Work Weekends" are a great way to donate your time. During a typical work weekend many construction projects are completed. For example, volunteers all largely completed the chapel, walkways between the new cabins, the archery range, and the "name bricks" at the flagpole. In exchange for all your hard work, volunteers earn great camp meals and a place to stay. The other benefits of a work weekend are somewhat intangible. Perhaps it is the camaraderie, the sense of accomplishment, or just the love of camp that makes so many busy people volunteer their free time.

Work weekends are typically the first weekends of May and October. If you are interested in a work weekend, please contact our office to be placed on a mailing list for date announcement.
