Dear Educator,

YMCA Camp MacLean has been providing schools outdoor education retreats for well over 30 years. Our mission is to provide tailor made outdoor education programs that will benefit your students. In nature's classroom they can learn and enjoy the world around them. In addition to learning about nature, students can learn about themselves and others through our challenge/adventure program. You have our commitment that we will provide a safe, clean facility, excellent food service and program support/guidance.

We work with schools to design a program best suited for their needs. If you need more information, call the camp office. We are also available to visit your school or provide you with a complete tour of our facility. Thank you for considering Camp MacLean.

Facilities & Location

Owned and operated by the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, Camp MacLean is located 75 miles northwest of Chicago, just one mile east of Burlington, Wisconsin. Our property consists of 247 acres with a swamp and marsh areas, prairie-grass land, 50-acre glacial lake and two large open fields.

Our fourteen cedar/redwood year-round cabins are perfect for the small group experience. Family style meals are served in our spacious William L. Rust Lodge. inside you will find our dining hall, teachers area, two fireplaces, and classroom space. Our main lodge is practicable and has multiple uses. In addition, we have a second lodge called Kelsey's Place; ideal for small meetings is open winter, spring and fall.

Staff

We provide a minimum of two program instructors for every group. Our niche in outdoor education is to have MacLean staff teach some activities while the school staff teach and lead activities as well. Camp can help you place staff to best serve your group.

Reservations

Groups can reserve dates from late August to early June. There are a minimum number of participants required to reserve camp. Minimums vary from 20-100 depending upon the time of year. Deposits are required and are applied to the total camp fee.
